How Amitone 10 works

How to take Amitone 10

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of amiTONE 10mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause fits, dangerous heart rhythm disturbance and coma, and is particularly dangerous with the older tricyclic medicines. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Risk of suicidal thoughts especially when starting/changing dose; seek help if mood worsens. Do not stop abruptly (withdrawal symptoms).

Do not take Amitone if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be combined with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor, or started within the gap your doctor specifies after one.

MAO inhibitors, other serotonergic drugs (SSRIs/SNRIs, tramadol, linezolid, triptans) – serotonin syndrome risk; alcohol and CNS depressants (benzodiazepines, opioids, antihistamines) – increased sedation; anticholinergics – increased constipation/urinary retention; QT-prolonging drugs (certain antiarrhythmics, antipsychotics, macrolides/fluoroquinolones) – arrhythmia risk; CYP2D6 inhibitors (fluoxetine, paroxetine, quinidine) – increased amitriptyline levels; antihypertensives – enhanced hypotension

amiTONE 10mg Tablet may cause sleepiness. Take it at bedtime and do not drive or perform any activity requiring concentration until you know how it affects you. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking amiTONE 10mg Tablet, as it may cause excessive sleepiness. Monitor your weight during treatment, as this medicine can cause weight gain and increased appetite. It may cause a sudden drop in blood pressure. Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. Talk to your doctor if you notice sudden mood changes or develop suicidal thoughts. Pay close attention to any changes, especially sudden changes, in mood, behavior, thoughts, or feelings. This is particularly important when the medicine is started or when the dose is changed. This medication can significantly reduce saliva production, leading to dry mouth (xerostomia). Maintain strict oral hygiene by brushing twice daily with toothpaste and flossing regularly. This medication may reduce tear production, leading to dry eyes. If you wear contact lenses, your doctor may advise using preservative-free lubricating eye drops to maintain proper eye and lens hygiene.
