Azithromycin 500 mg
Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as upper and lower respiratory tract infections (pharyngitis/tonsillitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), ear infections (otitis media), skin and soft tissue infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections (e.g., uncomplicated chlamydial infection) as prescribed.
Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. This stops bacterial growth and helps clear the infection.
Take by mouth as advised by your doctor. Usually taken once daily; swallow tablet whole with water. Can be taken with or without food (take after food if stomach upset occurs). Complete the full prescribed course even if you feel better.
Common side effects of AZINEX 500 TAB may include:
Use only for bacterial infections. Do not use if allergic to azithromycin/erythromycin/macrolides. Seek medical help for severe diarrhea (possible C. difficile), severe rash, or signs of liver injury (dark urine, yellowing of eyes/skin).
