Carvedilol 25 mg (extended-release) tablet
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), management of chronic heart failure, prevention/management of angina and left ventricular dysfunction after myocardial infarction (as prescribed)
Carvedilol is a non-selective beta-blocker with additional alpha-1 blocking activity. It reduces heart rate and myocardial workload and relaxes blood vessels, thereby lowering blood pressure and improving heart function in heart failure.
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily for extended-release formulation. Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew. Preferably take with food to reduce dizziness; take at the same time each day.
Common side effects of CADMET XR 25MG TAB may include:
May cause dizziness and low blood pressure—rise slowly from sitting/lying positions. Do not stop suddenly as it may worsen angina or cause rebound hypertension; taper under medical advice. Use with caution in asthma/COPD (may worsen bronchospasm), diabetes (can mask low blood sugar symptoms), peripheral vascular disease, liver disease, kidney impairment, and in patients with bradycardia or heart block. Monitor blood pressure and pulse regularly.
