Cadmet XR 25 mg Tablet contains Metoprolol Succinate (25mg). It belongs to the Non-selective beta-blocker with alpha-1 blocking activity class of medicines.

How Cadmet XR 25 mg Tablet works

Carvedilol is a non-selective beta-blocker with additional alpha-1 blocking activity. It reduces heart rate and myocardial workload and relaxes blood vessels, thereby lowering blood pressure and improving heart function in heart failure.

How to take Cadmet XR 25 mg Tablet

Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily for extended-release formulation. Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew. Preferably take with food to reduce dizziness; take at the same time each day.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in asthma/COPD (may worsen bronchospasm), diabetes (can mask low blood sugar symptoms), peripheral vascular disease, liver disease, kidney impairment, and in patients with bradycardia or heart block. Monitor blood pressure and pulse regularly.

Do not take Cadmet XR if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with a very slow heart rate, certain heart block disorders, or uncontrolled heart failure. Generally avoided in severe asthma.

Interactions with other medicines

Other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), diuretics (increased hypotension), calcium channel blockers like verapamil/diltiazem (bradycardia/heart block), digoxin (increased levels and bradycardia), amiodarone/antiarrhythmics (conduction issues), insulin/oral antidiabetics (mask hypoglycemia), clonidine (rebound effects on withdrawal), CYP2D6 inhibitors (may increase carvedilol levels)
