Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated August 2026
Codzi D Syrup contains Chlorpheniramine Maleate (2mg) + Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide (10mg).
Treatment of Dry cough
Codzi D Syrup is a combination of two medicines, Chlorpheniramine Maleate and Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, that relieve dry cough. Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antiallergic medicine that helps reduce cough associated with allergies by blocking the effects of a chemical messenger called histamine. Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide is a cough suppressant that relieves cough by reducing the activity of the cough center in the brain.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Codzi D Syrup may be taken with or without food.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Codzi D Syrup, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Codzi D than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Codzi D are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about every medicine you take, including over-the-counter products, vitamins and herbal or ayurvedic preparations, before starting Codzi D. Some combinations can change how Codzi D works or raise the chance of side effects.
Store Codzi D below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.
Drink plenty of fluids while taking Codzi D Syrup, as this helps soothe the throat and reduce irritation. Codzi D Syrup may cause dizziness or drowsiness, so avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you. It is better to avoid alcohol while taking Codzi D Syrup, as it may increase drowsiness. Dry mouth can occur after taking this medicine. Frequent sips of water can help maintain good oral hygiene. Do not combine Codzi D Syrup with other cough or cold medicines unless advised by your doctor. Avoid smoking or exposure to secondhand smoke, as it may worsen cough and throat irritation. Stop taking Codzi D Syrup and seek medical help if you develop rash, swelling of the face, or difficulty breathing. Consult your doctor if cough lasts more than 7 days, keeps recurring, or occurs with fever, rash, or persistent headache. Seek medical attention if cough is associated with high fever, breathlessness, chest pain, or coughing up blood. Inform your doctor if you have glaucoma or urinary retention before using Codzi D Syrup. Do not use Codzi D Syrup for cough with mucus (wet cough), as it may prevent clearance of phlegm. Do not take Codzi D Syrup with antidepressants or similar medicines without consulting your doctor, as it may cause serious side effects.
