Diclofenac sodium 75 mg/3 mL injection (25 mg/mL)
Relief of pain and inflammation in acute conditions such as postoperative pain, renal colic, acute musculoskeletal pain, acute exacerbations of arthritis, and other acute painful conditions where oral therapy is not suitable.
Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclo-oxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis. This decreases pain, inflammation and fever.
Injection for intramuscular (deep IM into gluteal muscle) or slow intravenous infusion/injection only as prescribed. Usually given for short-term use; avoid repeated injections at the same site. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration; may be given with food/antacid when switching to oral NSAIDs to reduce gastric irritation.
Common side effects of DICLOTAL INJ 3ML may include:
Do not use in patients with NSAID allergy/aspirin-sensitive asthma, active peptic ulcer or GI bleeding, severe heart failure, or severe renal/hepatic impairment. NSAIDs may increase risk of heart attack/stroke and can cause serious GI bleeding/ulceration; risk higher in elderly, smokers, alcohol use, and with anticoagulants/steroids. Use with caution in hypertension, cardiovascular disease, asthma, kidney disease, dehydration, and liver disease. Avoid use around CABG surgery. Not recommended in the last trimester of pregnancy; may affect fertility. Monitor for black stools, severe stomach pain, chest pain, breathlessness, swelling, reduced urine output, or severe skin reactions.
