How Digene Orange Tablet works

This medicine combines 4 active ingredients: Simethicone, Magnesium Hydroxide, Dried Aluminium Hydroxide and Carboxymethylcellulose. Simethicone neutralises or reduces stomach acid, giving quick relief from burning and indigestion. Magnesium Hydroxide neutralises or reduces stomach acid, giving quick relief from burning and indigestion. Dried Aluminium Hydroxide neutralises or reduces stomach acid, giving quick relief from burning and indigestion. Carboxymethylcellulose acts directly on the surface and inside of the eye where it is instilled.

How to take Digene Orange Tablet

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush or break it unless your doctor has told you to. Take it after meals and at bedtime. Taking it at about the same time each day helps you remember. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause severe loose motions or constipation and disturb the body's salt balance. It is unlikely from eye use; flush the eye with clean water if too much is instilled. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Warnings and precautions

This is for short-term relief. See a doctor if you need it most days for more than a couple of weeks. Seek urgent care for chest pain that spreads to the arm or jaw, comes with sweating or breathlessness — do not assume it is acidity. Antacids interfere with the absorption of many other medicines. Take them at least two hours apart from anything else. Never let the dropper tip touch your eye, eyelid or fingers — that is how a bottle becomes contaminated and causes a worse infection. Discard the bottle one month after you first open it, even if drops remain. Remove soft contact lenses before instilling drops and wait fifteen minutes before putting them back, unless the drops are specifically made for use with lenses. Seek same-day care for eye pain, marked redness, sensitivity to light or any loss of vision. Steroid eye drops must only be used under medical supervision — used wrongly they can raise eye pressure and damage sight. Glaucoma drops must be used every day for life; there are no symptoms until sight is already lost.

Do not take Digene Orange if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Magnesium-containing antacids are avoided in significant kidney disease. Not for anyone with a known allergy to the preservative in the preparation.

Interactions with other medicines

Reduces the absorption of thyroid tablets, iron, and several antibiotics — separate them by at least two hours. Beta blocker eye drops can be absorbed enough to slow the heart and tighten the airways — tell your doctor if you have asthma or a heart condition.

How to store Digene Orange Tablet

Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.

Expert advice for Digene Orange Tablet

Take it after meals and at bedtime when symptoms are worst. Avoid late heavy meals, and raise the head of your bed if symptoms wake you at night. Press gently on the inner corner of the eye for a minute after instilling — this keeps the drop in the eye and reduces the bitter taste. Leave five minutes between two different drops. Never share eye drops with anyone.
