Eticort 6 mg Tablet contains Deflazacort (6mg). It belongs to the Glucocorticoid (systemic corticosteroid) class of medicines.

How Eticort 6 mg Tablet works

Deflazacort is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation and suppresses overactive immune responses. It decreases the release of inflammatory mediators and reduces swelling, redness, pain and allergic symptoms.

How to take Eticort 6 mg Tablet

Take by mouth exactly as prescribed by the doctor, preferably at the same time each day, usually in the morning. Can be taken with food to reduce stomach upset. Do not stop suddenly; dose should be tapered as advised.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Eticort 6 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Eticort than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Use with caution in diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, glaucoma/cataract, peptic ulcer disease, liver/kidney impairment and in elderly. Long-term use may cause Cushingoid features, bone loss, growth suppression in children and eye problems; regular monitoring may be required. Live vaccines are generally avoided during high-dose therapy.

Live vaccines, NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen/diclofenac) and alcohol (GI bleeding risk), antidiabetic medicines/insulin (may need dose adjustment), antihypertensives/diuretics (electrolyte changes), anticoagulants (warfarin), enzyme inducers (rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine) reduce effect, CYP3A4 inhibitors (ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir, clarithromycin) increase steroid effects
