Composition of Nemocid Tablet

Nemocid Tablet contains Pyrantel pamoate 250 mg (equivalent to Pyrantel 144 mg) per tablet. It belongs to the Anthelmintic (tetrahydropyrimidine derivative) class of medicines.

How Nemocid Tablet works

Pyrantel is an anthelmintic that causes neuromuscular blockade in susceptible worms, leading to paralysis. The immobilized worms are then expelled from the intestine through normal bowel movements.

How to take Nemocid Tablet

Take by mouth as directed by a doctor; dose is usually based on body weight and type of worm infection. Can be taken with or without food; chew/swallow with water. For pinworm, a repeat dose after about 2 weeks may be advised to prevent reinfection; treat close contacts and follow hygiene measures.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause vomiting, abdominal cramps and nerve symptoms. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Nemocid Tablet

Most side effects of Nemocid are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Use with caution in liver disease; liver enzymes may rarely increase. Not for self-medication in pregnancy/children—dose should be weight-based. Seek medical advice if severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, or allergic reaction occurs.

Do not take Nemocid if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Several medicines in this group are avoided in early pregnancy.

Interactions with other medicines

Piperazine (may reduce effect), levamisole (additive effects/avoid unless prescribed), theophylline (reported increase in levels—monitor), other anthelmintics only if prescribed
