How Nexpro Rd 20 Capsule works

Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that reduces stomach acid by blocking the H+/K+ ATPase pump in gastric parietal cells. Domperidone is a peripheral dopamine (D2) receptor antagonist that increases gastric motility and helps relieve nausea and vomiting.

How to take Nexpro Rd 20 Capsule

Capsule (with SR domperidone): take as prescribed, usually once daily 30 minutes before food (preferably before breakfast). Swallow whole; do not crush or chew. If a dose is missed, take it when remembered unless it is close to the next dose.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in liver disease. Not recommended in moderate to severe hepatic impairment. Long-term PPI use may be associated with low magnesium, vitamin B12 deficiency, fractures, and increased infection risk (e.g., C. difficile); use lowest effective dose. Interactions with other medicines

QT-prolonging drugs (e.g., amiodarone, sotalol, certain antipsychotics/antidepressants), strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin, clarithromycin, ritonavir) increase domperidone levels and arrhythmia risk; warfarin (monitor), clopidogrel (reduced activation possible with some PPIs), digoxin (levels may increase), methotrexate (high-dose—PPI may raise levels), drugs needing acidic pH for absorption (e.g., ketoconazole, atazanavir)

Expert advice for Nexpro Rd 20 Capsule

Take it before breakfast, not after a meal. Eat smaller meals, avoid late dinners, raise the head of your bed and avoid smoking — these do as much as the tablet for reflux. Take it shortly before meals for bloating and early fullness. Sip fluids frequently in small amounts, and use oral rehydration salts if you have been vomiting.
