Composition of Nocold Tablet

Nocold Tablet contains Caffeine (25mg) + Chlorpheniramine Maleate (2mg) + Paracetamol (500mg) + Phenylephrine (5mg). It belongs to the Cold & flu combination (analgesic/antipyretic with antihistamine and/or decongestant; formulation dependent) class of medicines.

How to take Nocold Tablet

Take as directed by a physician. Swallow the tablet whole with water; can be taken with or without food (take after food if it upsets the stomach). Do not exceed the recommended dose or use for more than a few days without medical advice.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of NOcold Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a racing heart, tremor, vomiting and agitation. It can cause severe drowsiness, a fast heartbeat, confusion and, in children, agitation and fits. It can cause severe and sometimes fatal liver damage, often with no symptoms at all for the first day. It can cause vomiting, severe drowsiness, a racing heart and, with codeine, dangerously slow breathing. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Nocold are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Do not use with other cold/flu products containing similar ingredients (risk of overdose, especially with paracetamol). May cause drowsiness—avoid driving/operating machinery. Use with caution in liver disease, high blood pressure, heart disease, thyroid disorder, glaucoma, enlarged prostate/urinary retention, and in the elderly. Consult a doctor before use in children, during breastfeeding, or if symptoms persist/worsen.

Do not take Nocold if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for anyone with an uncontrolled heart rhythm problem, unless a doctor has said otherwise. The sedating antihistamines are not suitable for very young children, or for people with glaucoma or an enlarged prostate, without medical advice. Not for people with severe liver disease, except under medical supervision. Codeine-containing preparations are not for children, or for anyone with breathing difficulty.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased drowsiness), MAO inhibitors (serious interaction with decongestants), other sympathomimetics/decongestants, antihypertensives, warfarin (with prolonged paracetamol use), other paracetamol-containing products

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.

NOcold Tablet is prescribed to get relief from symptoms of common cold. Take exactly as directed by your doctor or on the label. Do not increase the dosage or take for longer than is recommended. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medications for cold. Call your doctor if your symptoms have not improved within seven days of treatment or if you develop a fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat, severe dizziness or anxiety, severe headache, fever, or rash. Inform your doctor if you are taking any antidepressants. Along with taking NOcold Tablet do the following simple tips at home to get relief: Steam inhalation Gargling with warm saltwater. Apply vapor rubs on chest, back if needed. Take enough rest. Take warm food and fluid only. Ensure adequate fluid intake. Advise hygiene measures to reduce spread: frequent hand-washing, avoiding sharing towels, pillowcases, etc.
