NORflox 200 Tablet is a combination of two medicines. Norfloxacin is an antibiotic. It works by stopping the action of a bacterial enzyme called DNA-gyrase. This prevents bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing them. Lactobacillus is a probiotic. It works by restoring the balance of good bacteria in the intestine that may get upset after antibiotic use or due to intestinal infections. This is how it works to treat bacterial infections.
How to take Norflox 200 Tablet
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. NORflox 200 Tablet is to be taken on an empty stomach.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Missed dose and overdose
If you miss a dose
If you miss a dose of NORflox 200 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
If you take too much
An overdose of this medicine can cause kidney injury, fits and heart rhythm disturbance. It may cause bloating and loose motions. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Warnings and precautions
Stop and contact your doctor at once if you develop pain, swelling or tenderness in a tendon — the Achilles tendon at the back of the ankle in particular. This group can damage tendons, and the risk is higher in older people and with steroids. Report any new numbness, tingling or burning in the hands or feet promptly. Tell your doctor about any change in mood, confusion or agitation. Avoid strong sunlight and use sun protection — this group makes the skin burn more easily. Finish the whole course; this group is heavily associated with antibiotic resistance and should be used only when prescribed. Loose motions with high fever, blood in the stool or severe abdominal pain need a doctor, not a home remedy. Oral rehydration salts and fluids matter more than any medicine when you have loose motions — dehydration is the real danger, especially in children and older people. Take a probiotic a couple of hours apart from an antibiotic so the antibiotic does not simply kill it. Do not use an anti-motility medicine such as loperamide if you have a fever or blood in the stool.
Do not take Norflox if
Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Generally avoided in children and adolescents, in pregnancy, and in anyone with a history of tendon problems with these antibiotics. Probiotics are used with caution in people whose immune system is significantly suppressed.
Interactions with other medicines
Antacids, iron, zinc, calcium and milk markedly reduce absorption — separate them by at least two hours. Tell your doctor if you take steroids, a blood thinner or a medicine for heart rhythm. Antibiotics reduce the effect of probiotics taken at the same time.
How to store Norflox 200 Tablet
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Some probiotic preparations ask to be refrigerated — follow the pack. Keep out of the reach of children.
Expert advice for Norflox 200 Tablet
NORflox 200 Tablet must be taken on an empty stomach at the same time every day. Avoid taking antacids, iron or calcium supplements, or multivitamins within 2 hours before or after this medicine to ensure proper absorption. Do not take it with milk or any other dairy product. These products contain calcium, which can bind to one of the medicine’s ingredients and prevent it from working properly. Drink plenty of fluids and maintain a healthy diet while taking this medicine. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medication. Alcohol consumption may increase side effects. Do not skip any doses, and complete the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early may cause the infection to return and become harder to treat. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding. In diabetic patients, it can cause unexpected hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). It is recommended to check your blood glucose levels more frequently while taking NORflox 200 Tablet.
