Nucoxia SP Tablet contains Etoricoxib (60mg) + Serratiopeptidase (10mg). It belongs to the Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and Enzyme / disease-modifying anti-rheumatic agent class of medicines.

How Nucoxia SP Tablet works

Nucoxia SP Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Etoricoxib and Serratiopeptidase. Etoricoxib is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling). Serratiopeptidase is an enzyme which works by breaking down abnormal proteins at the site of inflammation, and promotes healing.

How to take Nucoxia SP Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Nucoxia SP Tablet may be taken with or without food.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Nucoxia SP Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause stomach bleeding, kidney failure, drowsiness and fits. It can seriously suppress the bone marrow and damage the liver. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Nucoxia SP Tablet

Most side effects of Nucoxia SP are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Nucoxia SP Tablet

Warnings and precautions

Take it with or just after food, and for the shortest time that works. Stop and seek urgent care for black or tarry stools, vomiting blood, or severe stomach pain — this group can cause bleeding from the stomach. Long or high-dose use raises the risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney injury, particularly in older people and those already at risk. Avoid if you are dehydrated or have an illness with vomiting or loose motions — the kidneys are vulnerable then. Must be avoided in the last three months of pregnancy. Medicines that suppress the immune system need regular blood tests — do not miss them. Report fever, sore throat, mouth ulcers or unusual bruising promptly if you are on an immune-suppressing medicine. Tell your doctor about any infection, and before any vaccination. Methotrexate for arthritis is taken ONCE A WEEK. Taking it daily by mistake is dangerous — check the day on your pack.

Do not take Nucoxia SP if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with an active stomach ulcer, severe kidney or heart failure, or asthma triggered by aspirin or anti-inflammatory painkillers. Not in the third trimester of pregnancy. Not for people with an active serious infection, or with severe liver or bone-marrow disease. Several of these medicines must not be used in pregnancy.

Interactions with other medicines

Combining with a blood thinner or aspirin sharply raises the bleeding risk. Reduces the effect of blood pressure medicines and water tablets, and together with them can harm the kidneys. Never take two anti-inflammatory painkillers at the same time. Tell your doctor about all other medicines, especially anti-inflammatory painkillers and antibiotics. Live vaccines are generally avoided while on immune-suppressing treatment.

Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.

You have been prescribed Nucoxia SP Tablet to get relief from pain and inflammation. You can take the tablet either with or without food, although the tablets may work more quickly if they are taken without food. During long-term treatment, your doctor may want to take regular blood tests to monitor your liver function. If you have asthma, symptoms such as wheeze or breathlessness can be made worse by Nucoxia SP Tablet. If this happens to you, see your doctor as soon as possible.
