Ostocalcium Tablet is used for prevention and treatment of calcium and vitamin D deficiency; supportive therapy in osteoporosis/osteopenia, fractures healing, and increased calcium needs (e.g., elderly, postmenopausal women).
Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated August 2026
Calcium supplements provide elemental calcium needed for bone mineralization and normal muscle/nerve function. Vitamin D3 (if present) increases intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate and supports bone strength.
Oral tablet. Take as directed by physician; commonly taken once or twice daily after food with a glass of water. Do not crush/chew unless advised. Keep a 2–4 hour gap from iron, thyroid medicines, and certain antibiotics.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take the missed dose of Ostocalcium as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.
Taking more Ostocalcium than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Ostocalcium are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Avoid taking multiple calcium/vitamin D products together unless prescribed. Consult doctor for children, pregnancy/lactation, or if on long-term therapy.
Levothyroxine (reduced absorption), tetracyclines and quinolones (reduced antibiotic absorption), bisphosphonates (reduced absorption), iron salts (reduced absorption), thiazide diuretics (risk of hypercalcaemia), digoxin (arrhythmia risk with hypercalcaemia), anticonvulsants and corticosteroids (may reduce vitamin D effect)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
