Pantoprazole 40 mg (enteric-coated tablet)
Treatment of acidity and acid reflux (GERD), heartburn, erosive esophagitis; gastric and duodenal ulcers; prevention of NSAID-induced ulcers; part of H. pylori eradication therapy (with antibiotics); Zollinger–Ellison syndrome/hypersecretory conditions
Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It irreversibly blocks the H+/K+ ATPase (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells, thereby reducing acid production and relieving acid-related symptoms and promoting ulcer healing.
Oral tablet: usually 40 mg once daily, preferably 30–60 minutes before food (often before breakfast). Swallow whole; do not crush/chew (enteric-coated). Use for the duration advised by a doctor.

Use with caution in severe liver disease. Long-term use may increase risk of low magnesium, vitamin B12 deficiency, bone fractures, and certain infections (e.g., C. difficile). Seek medical advice if alarm symptoms occur (unexplained weight loss, persistent vomiting, blood in stool/vomit, difficulty swallowing). May mask symptoms of gastric cancer. Not for immediate relief of acute heartburn.
