Sinarest New Tablet contains Paracetamol 500 mg + Phenylephrine HCl 10 mg + Chlorpheniramine maleate 2 mg. It belongs to the Paracetamol (analgesic/antipyretic) + H1 antihistamine + alpha-adrenergic agonist decongestant class of medicines.

How Sinarest New Tablet works

Paracetamol reduces fever and relieves pain by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the CNS. Phenylephrine is a nasal decongestant (alpha-1 agonist) that constricts nasal blood vessels to reduce swelling and congestion. Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine (H1 blocker) that reduces sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes.

How to take Sinarest New Tablet

Oral tablet. Take as advised by doctor/pharmacist; typically taken after food with water. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose of paracetamol from all sources. Avoid taking with other cold/flu products containing paracetamol, antihistamines, or decongestants.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause severe and sometimes fatal liver damage, often with no symptoms at all for the first day. It can cause vomiting, severe drowsiness, a racing heart and, with codeine, dangerously slow breathing. It can cause severe drowsiness, a fast heartbeat, confusion and, in children, agitation and fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased drowsiness), other paracetamol-containing medicines (overdose risk), MAO inhibitors (within 14 days) and tricyclic antidepressants (may increase pressor effects), beta-blockers/antihypertensives (reduced effect/raised BP), other antihistamines (additive sedation/anticholinergic effects), warfarin (paracetamol may increase INR with prolonged use)

Taking it at bedtime reduces the impact of any drowsiness. Identify and avoid your triggers where you can — dust, pollen, cold air.
