Prevention of tetanus (active immunization) in children and adults; routine immunization, booster doses, and tetanus prophylaxis after wounds/injuries as per national guidelines.
Tetanus toxoid is an inactivated toxin (toxoid) that stimulates the immune system to produce protective antibodies against tetanus toxin. These antibodies help prevent tetanus disease when exposed to Clostridium tetani toxin.
For intramuscular use only (usually deltoid in adults/older children; anterolateral thigh in infants). Dose and schedule as per physician/national immunization schedule; may be given as primary series and boosters, and for wound prophylaxis along with tetanus immunoglobulin when indicated.
