Tetanus toxoid is an inactivated toxin (toxoid) that stimulates the immune system to produce protective antibodies against tetanus toxin. These antibodies help prevent tetanus disease when exposed to Clostridium tetani toxin.
For intramuscular use only (usually deltoid in adults/older children; anterolateral thigh in infants). Dose and schedule as per physician/national immunization schedule; may be given as primary series and boosters, and for wound prophylaxis along with tetanus immunoglobulin when indicated. Shake well if suspension; do not administer intravenously.

Do not use in patients with known severe allergy (anaphylaxis) to any component or after a previous dose. Defer vaccination in case of moderate/severe acute illness with fever. Use caution in bleeding disorders or patients on anticoagulants (risk of hematoma). Seek medical help for severe allergic reactions; report unusual neurologic symptoms. Use only if vial integrity and expiry are acceptable; do not freeze.
