Tamsulosin hydrochloride 0.4 mg (modified/extended-release) tablet
Relief of urinary symptoms due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) such as poor urine flow, hesitancy, frequency, urgency, nocturia; may be used to aid passage of ureteric (kidney) stones as advised by doctor
Tamsulosin is an alpha-1A adrenergic receptor blocker that relaxes smooth muscle in the prostate and bladder neck. This reduces resistance to urine flow and improves urinary symptoms in BPH.
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily after the same meal each day. Swallow tablet/capsule whole; do not crush or chew modified-release forms. If a dose is missed, take the next dose at the usual time; do not double.
Common side effects of TAMSUHENZ 0.4 TAB may include:
May cause dizziness/fainting especially after the first dose or dose increases—rise slowly and avoid driving until you know the effect. Use with caution in low blood pressure, severe liver disease, and severe kidney impairment. Tell your eye surgeon before cataract/glaucoma surgery (risk of intraoperative floppy iris syndrome). Seek urgent help for allergic reaction or prolonged painful erection (priapism). Not for use in women and children unless specifically prescribed.
