Metformin (500mg)
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (to control blood glucose)
Metformin reduces glucose production in the liver and decreases intestinal glucose absorption. It also improves insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, helping lower blood sugar without usually causing hypoglycaemia when used alone.
Take by mouth as directed by doctor, usually once daily with the evening meal or with food. Swallow the sustained-release tablet whole; do not crush, break or chew. Regularly monitor blood glucose; continue diet and exercise advice.
Common side effects of Uformin-500 SR Tab may include:

A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Uformin-500 SR Tab. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
