Treatment of major depressive disorder (depression) in adults
Vortioxetine is a multimodal antidepressant that increases serotonin activity in the brain. It inhibits serotonin reuptake and modulates multiple serotonin (5‑HT) receptors, helping improve mood and associated symptoms of depression.
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water; take it at the same time each day. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

Prescription-only antidepressant. Risk of suicidal thoughts/behaviour may increase in young adults early in treatment or on dose changes—monitor closely. Do not use with MAO inhibitors; allow adequate washout (at least 14 days) to avoid serotonin syndrome. Use caution with history of bipolar disorder/mania, seizures, bleeding disorders, hyponatremia, glaucoma, or severe liver/kidney disease. Serotonin syndrome risk increases with other serotonergic drugs; seek urgent care for agitation, fever, tremor, diarrhoea, confusion. May cause dizziness—use caution while driving/operating machinery.
