Walyte ORS 4.4 g (Orange) contains Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) powder 4.4 g sachet; typically contains Glucose (anhydrous), Sodium chloride, Potassium chloride, Trisodium citrate dihydrate (exact strengths depend on label). It belongs to the Electrolyte and carbohydrate replacement (WHO-ORS) class of medicines.
ORS provides glucose and essential electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride, citrate) in an optimal ratio to enhance water absorption from the intestine. Glucose facilitates sodium co-transport, which helps restore body fluids and correct electrolyte imbalance and metabolic acidosis.
Dissolve the entire contents of 1 sachet in the specified quantity of clean drinking water as per pack instructions; stir well and use immediately. Give in small frequent sips; continue feeding/breastfeeding. Use within 24 hours if kept covered; discard leftover solution after 24 hours. Do not add sugar, salt, milk, or mix with soft drinks/juice.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take the missed dose of Walyte ORS as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.
Taking more Walyte ORS than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Walyte ORS are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
