ORS provides glucose and essential electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride, citrate) in an optimal ratio to enhance water absorption from the intestine. Glucose facilitates sodium co-transport, which helps restore body fluids and correct electrolyte imbalance and metabolic acidosis.

Give in small frequent sips; continue feeding/breastfeeding. Use within 24 hours if kept covered; discard leftover solution after 24 hours.
