Human insulin (premixed) 50% soluble (regular) insulin + 50% isophane (NPH) insulin, strength typically 100 IU/mL (10 mL vial or 3 mL cartridge)
Treatment of diabetes mellitus (Type 1 and Type 2) to control blood glucose levels when insulin therapy is required
This is a premixed human insulin containing short-acting regular insulin for mealtime glucose control and intermediate-acting NPH insulin for basal control. It increases peripheral glucose uptake and reduces hepatic glucose production, thereby lowering blood sugar.
For subcutaneous injection using the prescribed insulin device (cartridge/pen compatible as advised). Dose and timing are individualized; commonly given 1–2 times daily, usually 30 minutes before meals. Roll/tilt gently to resuspend before use; do not shake vigorously. Do not use intravenously.
Common side effects of WOSULIN 50/50 CAR may include:
Risk of severe hypoglycaemia—monitor blood glucose and carry fast-acting sugar. Use with caution in kidney or liver impairment, elderly, irregular meal intake, or increased physical activity. Do not use if solution shows clumps/frosting or is not uniformly milky after resuspension. Rotate injection sites to prevent lipodystrophy. Dose may need adjustment during illness, stress, surgery, or change in diet/exercise. Seek urgent help for severe allergy or recurrent hypoglycaemia.
