Xtralite Cream contains Tretinoin (0.05%w/w) + Azelaic Acid (10%w/w).
Xtralite Cream is used in the treatment of melasma.
Xtralite Cream is a combination of two medicines: Azelaic Acid and Tretinoin which treat melasma (dark spots on skin). Azelaic Acid is a naturally occurring acid. It works by blocking an enzyme (tyrosinase) which stimulates the production of melanin, a skin-darkening pigment. It also reduces the formation of harmful chemicals (free radicals) that cause pigmentation. Tretinoin is a form of vitamin A that helps the skin to renew itself more quickly.
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take the missed dose of Xtralite as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.
Taking more Xtralite than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Xtralite are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
