Zidovudine 150 mg (as Zidovudine) tablet
Treatment of HIV-1 infection as part of combination antiretroviral therapy (ART); prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (as per specialist regimen/guidelines).
Zidovudine is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI). It is converted inside cells to an active triphosphate form that inhibits HIV reverse transcriptase and causes chain termination, reducing viral replication.
Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed, usually in combination with other antiretroviral medicines; may be taken with or without food. Take at the same time each day and do not stop without medical advice.
Common side effects of ZIDLIV 150MG TAB may include:
Use only under supervision of an HIV specialist and always as part of combination therapy. May cause bone marrow suppression (anemia, neutropenia); regular CBC monitoring required. Risk of lactic acidosis and severe hepatomegaly with steatosis; seek urgent care for persistent nausea/vomiting, abdominal pain, deep rapid breathing, or severe weakness. Use caution in liver disease and in patients with pre-existing anemia/neutropenia. Long-term use may be associated with myopathy and lipoatrophy. Do not share needles; continue safe sex practices as this medicine reduces viral load but does not cure HIV.
