A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Zoryl Ms Ir 2/500 mg Tablet. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Zoryl Ms Ir 2/500 mg Tablet contains Sitagliptin (50mg) + Glimepiride (2mg) + Metformin (1000mg). It belongs to the Sulfonylurea + Biguanide (combination) class of medicines.
Type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet and exercise alone or monotherapy is insufficient; helps control blood glucose and HbA1c.
Glimepiride (a sulfonylurea) stimulates the pancreas to release insulin and improves insulin sensitivity. Metformin (a biguanide) reduces glucose production in the liver and improves peripheral glucose uptake, lowering blood sugar without usually causing hypoglycaemia on its own.
Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once or twice daily with meals to reduce stomach upset. Swallow whole with water; do not skip meals. Monitor blood glucose regularly.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Zoryl MS 50mg/2mg/1000mg Tablet IR, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Zoryl Ms Ir 2/500 mg than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Zoryl Ms Ir 2/500 mg are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Risk of hypoglycaemia (higher with missed meals, alcohol, heavy exercise, elderly, kidney/liver impairment). Metformin rarely can cause lactic acidosis—seek urgent care for fast breathing, severe weakness, abdominal pain, or unusual sleepiness. Use with caution/avoid in severe renal impairment, severe hepatic disease, dehydration, severe infection, shock, or hypoxia; temporarily stop before/after iodinated contrast or major surgery as advised. Check kidney function periodically; long-term metformin may cause vitamin B12 deficiency. Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
Alcohol (increases hypoglycaemia/lactic acidosis risk), iodinated contrast media, insulin/other antidiabetics (additive hypoglycaemia), beta-blockers (mask hypoglycaemia), corticosteroids/thiazides/sympathomimetics (raise glucose), ACE inhibitors (may increase hypoglycaemia), NSAIDs/salicylates (may increase hypoglycaemia), diuretics, cimetidine (may increase metformin levels), certain antibiotics (e.g., sulfonamides/fluoroquinolones may affect glucose)
Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
Prefer taking Zoryl MS 50mg/2mg/1000mg Tablet IR after a meal or with a snack, as this will reduce the chance of an upset stomach. Zoryl MS 50mg/2mg/1000mg Tablet IR may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal. Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) symptoms, such as fatigue, dizziness, cold sweats, tremor, and anxiety. If you get unusually thirsty, pass urine more frequently, and feel tired, let your doctor know. These are signs that there is too much sugar in your blood and your dose may need adjusting. Monitor your blood sugar regularly while taking this medicine. Lifestyle changes like low sugar diet, exercising, losing weight, not smoking, and cutting down on alcohol intake may help this medication work better.
