Zylo Nasal Drops contains Xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.1% w/v (nasal drops). It belongs to the Imidazoline derivative; alpha-adrenergic agonist (topical nasal sympathomimetic) class of medicines.

How Zylo Nasal Drops works

Xylometazoline is a topical nasal decongestant (alpha-adrenergic agonist). It constricts dilated blood vessels in the nasal mucosa, reducing swelling and mucus formation and improving airflow.

How to take Zylo Nasal Drops

For intranasal use only. Instill the prescribed number of drops into each nostril as directed, usually 2-3 times daily. Blow nose gently before use; keep head tilted back while instilling. Do not use continuously for more than 3-5 days to avoid rebound congestion; follow doctor’s advice for children.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Apply it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for the next application, skip the missed one — applying extra does not make up for it.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may cause a racing heart, restlessness and a rise in blood pressure if swallowed. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Zylo Nasal are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Do not use for more than 3-5 days (risk of rhinitis medicamentosa/rebound congestion). Use with caution in hypertension, heart disease, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, enlarged prostate, glaucoma. Avoid in atrophic rhinitis and after certain nasal surgeries unless advised. Not recommended for young children unless prescribed. Seek medical help if symptoms persist, worsen, or if severe headache, chest pain, fast heartbeat occurs.

Do not take Zylo Nasal if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Decongestant sprays are not suitable for very young children without medical advice.

Interactions with other medicines

MAO inhibitors (and within 14 days of stopping), tricyclic antidepressants, other sympathomimetics/decongestants; may increase risk of hypertension/arrhythmias
