Treatment of bacterial eye infections such as bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible organisms
Gatifloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, blocking DNA replication and leading to bacterial cell death.
For ophthalmic use only. Instill the prescribed number of drops into the affected eye(s) as advised by the doctor. Wash hands before use, avoid touching the dropper tip, and keep the eye closed for 1–2 minutes after instillation; if using other eye medicines, keep a 5–10 minute gap.
Common side effects of ZYMAR may include:
Not for injection or oral use. Avoid contact of dropper tip with eye/skin to prevent contamination. Remove contact lenses before use; generally avoid wearing lenses during active infection. Stop and seek medical advice if allergic reaction, severe pain, swelling, rash, or worsening symptoms occur. Use with caution in children, pregnancy or breastfeeding only on medical advice.
