Used by an eye doctor as a diagnostic aid to examine the inside of the eye (fundus/retina) by dilating the pupil (mydriasis) during eye examination.
This is an ophthalmic mydriatic used to temporarily widen (dilate) the pupil. By relaxing the iris sphincter muscle, it allows better visualization of the retina and other internal eye structures during examination.
For ophthalmic use only. Instilled into the eye(s) by a healthcare professional as advised prior to eye examination. Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface; remove contact lenses before use and reinsert only when advised. Vision may be blurred and light sensitivity may occur after use.
Temporary stinging/burning, blurred vision, sensitivity to light, eye redness, watery eyes, increased intraocular pressure (rare)
For use under medical supervision only. Avoid driving/operating machinery until vision clears. Use with caution in patients with glaucoma or risk of angle-closure glaucoma; seek urgent care if severe eye pain, headache, nausea, or sudden vision changes occur. Use caution in children, elderly, and those with cardiovascular disease if systemic absorption occurs. If allergic reaction occurs, stop and consult doctor.
Other mydriatics/cycloplegics (additive effect), anticholinergic medicines (additive side effects), adrenergic agents/MAO inhibitors (may increase cardiovascular effects)
Store as per label; generally keep at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from light and moisture. Do not freeze. Keep container tightly closed and out of reach of children.
