Apivas 2.5 Tablet is a prescription medicine containing Apixaban (2.5mg). It is used for treatment and prevention of Blood clots. It belongs to the group of medicines called Calcium Channel Blocker.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Apivas 2.5 Tablet are bruising easily, bleeding for longer from cuts, nosebleeds and indigestion. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Apivas 2.5 Tablet works.
Most side effects of Apivas are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Apivas 2.5 Tablet may be taken with or without food.
Apivas 2.5 Tablet is a novel oral anticoagulant (NOAC) that helps prevent blood clot formation. It works by directly and selectively inhibiting factor Xa, an important clotting factor involved in thrombin generation. It reduces thrombin formation and helps prevent the development and spread of blood clots.
Use with caution in patients with severe aortic stenosis, heart failure, or liver impairment. Monitor blood pressure regularly.
If you miss a dose of Apivas 2.5 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
An overdose of this medicine can cause serious and difficult-to-control bleeding. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
CYP3A4 inhibitors, other antihypertensives, simvastatin
Store at room temperature (15-30°C) in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture.
