Iron and zinc supplementation to prevent or treat nutritional deficiencies; helps in iron deficiency anaemia, fatigue and weakness due to low iron, and zinc deficiency states.
Iron is required to make haemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen; supplementation restores iron stores and improves haemoglobin levels. Zinc is an essential trace element involved in immune function, growth and wound healing; supplementation corrects zinc deficiency.
Oral liquid/syrup. Shake well before use and measure with a cup/spoon. Take as advised by a doctor; commonly taken after food to reduce stomach upset. Avoid taking at the same time as milk, tea/coffee, calcium or antacids; keep a 2-hour gap.
Nausea, stomach upset, abdominal pain/cramps, constipation, diarrhoea, metallic taste, dark/black stools, vomiting
Do not exceed the recommended dose; accidental iron overdose can be dangerous, especially in children—keep out of reach. Use with caution in patients with iron overload (e.g., haemochromatosis/haemosiderosis), repeated blood transfusions, peptic ulcer disease or inflammatory bowel disease. If you have anaemia from causes other than iron deficiency, consult a doctor before use. Stop and seek medical help if you develop allergic reactions.
Antacids, calcium supplements and dairy reduce iron absorption; tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones (e.g., doxycycline, ciprofloxacin) interact—separate by 2–4 hours; levothyroxine—separate by at least 4 hours; bisphosphonates (alendronate), penicillamine, methyldopa—separate dosing; tea/coffee reduce absorption.
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from light and moisture. Keep the bottle tightly closed. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
