Injection
Used to treat or prevent vitamin B12 deficiency and related megaloblastic anemia; may be prescribed for B12 deficiency–related neuropathy/neuritis as per doctor.
Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is essential for DNA synthesis and red blood cell formation. It also supports myelin formation and normal nerve function, helping improve anemia and neurological symptoms caused by deficiency.
Injection (2 mL) to be administered by a doctor/nurse via intramuscular or intravenous route as prescribed. Dose and frequency depend on the severity of deficiency; do not self-inject.
Injection site pain, redness or swelling, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, rash, itching
Use only under medical supervision. Inform your doctor if you have allergy to cobalamin/cobalt, Leber’s disease (risk of optic nerve damage), kidney or liver disease, or if you are pregnant/breastfeeding. If symptoms persist or worsen, seek medical advice.
Chloramphenicol (may reduce hematologic response), metformin (may reduce B12 levels with long-term use), proton pump inhibitors and H2 blockers (may reduce B12 absorption), nitrous oxide anesthesia (can inactivate B12), colchicine (may reduce absorption)
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from light. Do not freeze. Keep ampoules/vials in original carton; keep out of reach of children.
