Betadine 10% Sol

Povidone-Iodine 10% w/v (available iodine 1% w/v) solution

Antiseptic for skin and wound disinfection; used for cleaning minor cuts, abrasions, burns, infected wounds; pre-operative skin preparation and general topical antisepsis.

Povidone-iodine slowly releases free iodine on the skin. Iodine rapidly kills a broad range of microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, viruses) by iodinating/oxidizing cellular components, helping prevent and control infection.

For external use only. Apply undiluted or as directed to the affected area using clean cotton/gauze; allow to dry. For wound cleansing, apply to clean area 1–3 times daily or as advised. Avoid contact with eyes; do not swallow.

Skin irritation, burning/stinging, redness, itching, dryness, allergic contact dermatitis, swelling

External use only. Avoid use if allergic to iodine/povidone-iodine. Do not use for prolonged periods or on large areas, deep puncture wounds, serious burns, or in infants/young children unless advised by a doctor (risk of thyroid effects). Use with caution in thyroid disorders, goiter, or if taking lithium. Avoid contact with eyes/inner ear; do not use in the ear if eardrum is perforated. Stop use and seek medical advice if severe irritation, rash, or signs of allergy occur.

Lithium (increased risk of hypothyroidism with prolonged/large-area use), other topical antiseptics/agents such as hydrogen peroxide, silver preparations, mercurial compounds, chlorhexidine (reduced efficacy/irritation potential when used together), enzymatic wound debriders (may be inactivated)

Store below 25°C in a tightly closed container. Protect from light and excessive heat. Keep out of reach of children.
