Monograph
Claritop Plus Gel is a prescription medicine containing Clindamycin (1.0% W/W) + Vitamin B3 (4.0% W/W). It is used for bacterial infection, gut infection, skin infection, dental infection, vitamin b deficiency, nerve pain, tingling, anaemia and tiredness due to deficiency. It belongs to the group of medicines called Antibacterial agent and B-complex vitamin.
Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer and rub it in gently. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Claritop Plus Gel are nausea, metallic taste, loose motions and stomach pain. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Claritop Plus Gel works.
Most side effects of Claritop Plus are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer and rub it in gently. Wash your hands before and after use, unless your hands are the area being treated. This is for use on the skin only — do not swallow it. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.
This medicine combines 2 active ingredients: Clindamycin and Vitamin b. Clindamycin kills or stops the growth of the bacteria causing your infection. Vitamin b replaces a B vitamin your body needs to make red blood cells, to keep nerves healthy and to release energy from food.
Finish the whole course even after you feel better. Do not drink any alcohol while taking metronidazole, ornidazole or tinidazole, or for the period after the course that your doctor states — the combination causes severe flushing, vomiting and a racing heart. Report severe or watery loose motions during or after the course rather than treating them yourself. Tetracyclines stain developing teeth and are avoided in young children and in pregnancy. Antibiotics do not work against colds, flu or most sore throats, which are caused by viruses. Tingling, numbness or burning in the hands and feet should be assessed by a doctor rather than self-treated — a supplement does not address the cause. Folic acid can mask a vitamin B12 deficiency while nerve damage continues, so B12 should be checked before taking folic acid long term. Bright yellow urine after a B-complex dose is expected and harmless.
Apply it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for the next application, skip the missed one — applying extra does not make up for it.
An overdose of this medicine can cause vomiting, severe loose motions and nerve symptoms. It is unlikely to cause serious harm, because the body passes surplus B vitamins out in the urine. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Close the cap tightly after each use. Keep out of the reach of children.
