It is used to treat thinning and weakening of the bones (osteoporosis) in post-menopausal women. It is also used for treating  anemia caused by kidney problems..

Deca-Duralin 100 mg Injection is an anabolic steroid which mimics the effect of male hormone (testosterone). It works by strengthening the bones which become thin and fragile due to osteoporosis.

Take a hormonal medicine at the same time every day; the effect depends on a steady level. Seek urgent care for sudden chest pain, breathlessness, severe headache, weakness on one side, or pain and swelling in a calf — hormone preparations can raise the risk of clots. Tell your doctor if you smoke, have migraine with aura, high blood pressure, or a family history of clots or breast cancer, before starting. Report any unusual or heavy vaginal bleeding to your doctor.

Rifampicin, several anti-epileptics and St John's wort make hormonal contraception unreliable. Tell your doctor about every medicine, supplement and herbal product you take.
