Pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy in exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) such as chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, post-pancreatectomy, pancreatic cancer/duct obstruction; helps in malabsorption with steatorrhea, bloating and weight loss due to enzyme deficiency

Pancreatin provides digestive enzymes (lipase, amylase and proteases) that are normally produced by the pancreas. These enzymes help break down fats, carbohydrates and proteins in the intestine, improving digestion and absorption of nutrients and reducing fatty stools.

Oral capsule. Take with meals or snacks (during or immediately after food) as directed by the doctor; swallow whole with water and do not crush/chew. Dose is individualized based on symptoms, weight and fat content of meals.

Abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, bloating/flatulence, stomach discomfort, irritation around mouth/anus (if capsule contents are exposed), rash/allergic reactions

Use only under medical advice in pancreatic insufficiency. Do not crush/chew capsules; avoid inhaling or contacting powder with skin/eyes. Use with caution in patients with gout or high uric acid (risk of hyperuricemia at high doses) and in intestinal obstruction. Rare: fibrosing colonopathy reported with very high doses (mainly in cystic fibrosis); seek medical help for severe abdominal pain, constipation or blood in stool. Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to pork proteins/pancreatin; avoid use during acute pancreatitis flare unless advised.

Acarbose/miglitol (may reduce their effect), iron salts (may reduce iron absorption in some patients); antacids may reduce effectiveness of some enzyme formulations—separate if advised

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and heat; keep the container tightly closed and out of reach of children.
