Flublock Az Nasal Spray contains Fluticasone Propionate + Azelastine and is used for asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, allergic rhinitis. Prescription required.
Monograph
Flublock Az Nasal Spray is a prescription medicine containing Fluticasone Propionate + Azelastine. It is used for asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, allergic rhinitis, hives, skin allergy, itching and allergic asthma.
Blow your nose gently, then insert the nozzle into one nostril, close the other and breathe in as you press. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Flublock Az Nasal Spray are throat irritation, hoarse voice, oral thrush and tremor. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Flublock Az Nasal Spray works.
Most side effects of Flublock Az Nasal are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Blow your nose gently, then insert the nozzle into one nostril, close the other and breathe in as you press. Aim slightly away from the middle of your nose. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.
This medicine combines 2 active ingredients: Fluticasone and Azelastine. Fluticasone is breathed straight into the lungs, where it opens the airways and reduces the swelling inside them, so less of the medicine reaches the rest of the body. Azelastine blocks the chemical messengers your body releases during an allergic reaction, which relieves sneezing, a running nose, watering eyes and itching.
Know which of your inhalers is the reliever and which is the preventer. A preventer must be used every day even when you feel well; a reliever is for symptoms. Seek emergency care if your reliever is not working, if you cannot speak a full sentence, or if you are using the reliever far more often than usual. Rinse your mouth with water and spit it out after every steroid inhaler dose to prevent thrush and hoarseness. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to watch your technique — poor technique is the commonest reason an inhaler seems not to work. Use a spacer if one has been advised, particularly for children. Older antihistamines cause marked drowsiness — do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this affects you. Tell your doctor promptly about any change in mood, sleep, agitation or unusual thoughts while taking montelukast; this is uncommon but recognised. This relieves the symptoms of an allergy; it does not treat the cause, and it is not a treatment for an acute asthma attack. Seek emergency care for swelling of the lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing.
Apply it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for the next application, skip the missed one — applying extra does not make up for it.
An overdose of this medicine can cause a racing heart, marked tremor, headache and a fall in blood potassium. It can cause severe drowsiness, a fast heartbeat, confusion and, in children, agitation and fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Do not freeze. Keep out of the reach of children.
