Overview
Automatic digital blood pressure monitor device (upper-arm cuff), 1 unit
Uses & Benefits
Home monitoring of blood pressure (systolic/diastolic) and pulse rate; useful for tracking hypertension, hypotension and therapy response as advised by a clinician
How It Works
Uses the oscillometric method to detect pressure oscillations in the artery during cuff inflation/deflation. An internal algorithm calculates systolic and diastolic blood pressure and displays pulse rate on the screen.
Directions for Use
Use on upper arm with appropriate cuff size; sit relaxed with back supported and feet flat, rest 5 minutes before measuring. Wrap cuff on bare upper arm at heart level, keep arm supported, press Start and remain still/silent during measurement. Take 2–3 readings 1–2 minutes apart and record the average; preferably measure at the same time daily or as advised by your doctor.
Side Effects
Transient arm discomfort/pressure from cuff, skin irritation from cuff material, bruising (rare), anxiety due to readings
Warnings & Precautions
For home monitoring only; not a substitute for medical diagnosis. Use correct cuff size and placement; wrong technique can give inaccurate readings. Avoid measuring immediately after exercise, smoking, caffeine or alcohol; wait 30 minutes. Consult a doctor for persistently high/low readings or symptoms (chest pain, severe headache, dizziness, breathlessness). Use with caution in people with arrhythmias (may reduce accuracy), poor circulation or arm wounds. Keep out of reach of children; small parts/batteries may be hazardous.
