Naproxen 250 mg (as Naproxen) tablet
Relief of pain and inflammation in conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute gout, musculoskeletal pain, dental pain, and primary dysmenorrhoea (period pain).
Naproxen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It inhibits cyclo-oxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, reducing prostaglandin formation, which helps decrease pain, inflammation and fever.
Take by mouth as advised by the doctor. Preferably take with food or milk to reduce stomach upset; swallow with water. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration; do not exceed the prescribed dose.
Acidity/heartburn, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, indigestion, diarrhoea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, fluid retention/edema, rash
May cause stomach/intestinal ulceration, bleeding or perforation—risk higher in elderly, history of ulcer, with alcohol, steroids or blood thinners. Use with caution in kidney disease, liver disease, asthma/NSAID allergy, hypertension, heart failure, and cardiovascular disease; can increase risk of heart attack or stroke with prolonged/high-dose use. Stop and seek care if black stools, blood vomiting, severe abdominal pain, chest pain, breathing trouble, facial swelling or severe rash occur. Avoid use around coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. Not recommended in late pregnancy (third trimester) due to risk to the fetus; may affect fertility in some women.
Anticoagulants/antiplatelets (warfarin, apixaban, rivaroxaban, clopidogrel), other NSAIDs/aspirin, corticosteroids, SSRIs/SNRIs, ACE inhibitors/ARBs (enalapril, losartan) and diuretics (furosemide) (kidney risk), lithium, methotrexate, cyclosporine/tacrolimus, digoxin
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from moisture and direct light. Keep in original strip and out of reach of children.
