Capsule
Prevention of cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke) in at-risk patients, Hyperlipidemia/dyslipidemia management as part of cardiovascular risk reduction, Secondary prevention in patients with coronary artery disease or after angioplasty/stenting as prescribed
Rosuvastatin is a statin that inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, lowering LDL cholesterol and triglycerides and helping stabilize atherosclerotic plaques. Aspirin irreversibly inhibits platelet COX-1, reducing thromboxane A2 and thereby decreasing platelet aggregation to prevent clot formation.
Take as prescribed by the doctor, usually once daily at the same time. Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not crush or chew. May be taken with or without food, but taking after food may reduce stomach irritation due to aspirin.
stomach upset/heartburn, nausea, abdominal pain, bruising, nosebleed, headache, dizziness, muscle pain (myalgia), weakness, increased liver enzymes
Prescription-only. Aspirin may increase bleeding risk; seek urgent help for black/tarry stools, vomiting blood, unusual bleeding/bruising. Rosuvastatin can rarely cause myopathy/rhabdomyolysis—report unexplained muscle pain/weakness, especially with fever or dark urine. Use with caution in liver disease, heavy alcohol use, history of peptic ulcer/GI bleeding, uncontrolled hypothyroidism, kidney impairment, elderly. Avoid in active liver disease. Do not use in children/teens for viral infections (risk of Reye’s syndrome with aspirin). Stop before surgery/dental procedures only on medical advice.
Anticoagulants/antiplatelets (warfarin, apixaban, rivaroxaban, clopidogrel) – bleeding risk; NSAIDs (ibuprofen, diclofenac) – GI bleeding and may reduce aspirin antiplatelet effect (ibuprofen); corticosteroids – GI bleeding; SSRIs/SNRIs – bleeding risk; methotrexate – toxicity risk; other statins/fibrates (gemfibrozil, fenofibrate) – myopathy risk; macrolides/azole antifungals and protease inhibitors – increased statin levels/myopathy risk; cyclosporine – markedly increases rosuvastatin exposure; antacids containing aluminium/magnesium – reduce rosuvastatin absorption (separate dosing); alcohol – increases liver/GI bleeding risk
