Tablet; take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water; continue diet and exercise advice. Do not stop without medical advice.

Not recommended in active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevation of liver enzymes. Seek urgent care for muscle pain/tenderness with fever or dark urine (risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis). Use with caution in kidney disease, hypothyroidism, heavy alcohol use, age >65, and with interacting medicines; periodic lipid and liver function monitoring may be advised.
Cyclosporine (contraindicated/avoid), gemfibrozil and other fibrates, niacin, protease inhibitors (e.g., ritonavir/atazanavir), warfarin (may increase INR—monitor), ezetimibe (↑myopathy risk), colchicine (↑myopathy risk), antacids containing aluminum/magnesium (reduce absorption—separate dosing), macrolide antibiotics (myopathy risk)
