What is this medicine used for?
Treatment of chronic heart failure (particularly heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, HFrEF) to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization.
What are the side effects?
Low blood pressure (hypotension),dizziness,raised potassium (hyperkalaemia),kidney function changes,increased creatinine,cough,diarrhoea,angioedema (rare but serious)
How does this medicine work?
Sacubitril inhibits neprilysin, increasing levels of beneficial natriuretic peptides leading to vasodilation and reduced fluid overload. Valsartan blocks angiotensin II (AT1) receptors, reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone effects. Together they lower cardiac workload and improve heart failure outcomes.
How should I use this medicine?
Take as prescribed by the doctor, usually twice daily, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew. Dose is titrated based on blood pressure, kidney function and tolerance; do not stop abruptly without medical advice.
How should I store this medicine?
Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
