Sugamet MC 1000 Tablet SR is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Sugamet MC 1000 Tablet SR is to be taken with food.<br>Sugamet MC 1000 Tablet SR may cause stomach upset if taken on empty stomach.

Sugamet MC 1000 Tablet SR is a combination of two medicines: Metformin and methylcobalamin which treat diabetes. Metformin is a biguanide which decreases the production and absorption of sugar in your body, and allows better use of existing insulin. Methylcobalamin is a form of vitamin B which helps in the production of myelin, a substance that protects nerve fibers and rejuvenates damaged nerve cells.

Tingling, numbness or burning in the hands and feet should be assessed by a doctor rather than self-treated — a supplement does not address the cause. Folic acid can mask a vitamin B12 deficiency while nerve damage continues, so B12 should be checked before taking folic acid long term. Bright yellow urine after a B-complex dose is expected and harmless. Stomach upset is common in the first two weeks and usually settles; taking it with food helps. Tell your doctor before any surgery or a scan that uses contrast dye — this medicine is usually stopped for a short time around them. Stop and seek urgent care if you develop deep rapid breathing, severe weakness, muscle pain or vomiting with cold clammy skin. This is rare but serious. Long-term use can lower vitamin B12, so your doctor may check it from time to time.
