Telmisartan 80 mg (tablet)

Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure); may also be used to reduce risk of cardiovascular events in high-risk patients as advised by a doctor

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It relaxes blood vessels by blocking the action of angiotensin II, thereby lowering blood pressure and reducing strain on the heart.

Take by mouth as prescribed, usually once daily, at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet with water; do not stop abruptly without medical advice.

Avoid use in pregnancy (can harm the unborn baby). Use with caution in kidney disease, liver impairment, dehydration/low salt status, and in elderly due to risk of low BP. Monitor blood pressure, kidney function and serum potassium, especially after starting or dose changes. Seek care for swelling of face/lips (angioedema) or severe dizziness/fainting.

Potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics (e.g., spironolactone, amiloride),ACE inhibitors or aliskiren (higher risk of kidney issues/hyperkalemia; avoid with diabetes for aliskiren),NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, diclofenac) may reduce effect and worsen kidney function,lithium (increased toxicity risk),diuretics may increase first-dose hypotension

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and direct light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
