Capsule
Prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency; support of calcium absorption and bone health (e.g., osteopenia/osteoporosis as adjunct, muscle weakness due to low vitamin D).
Vitamin D (cholecalciferol) is converted in the body to active metabolites that increase intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate. This helps mineralize bone and improves muscle function when deficiency is present.
Softgel capsule: take as advised by the doctor, usually with or after food to improve absorption. Swallow whole with water; do not chew or crush. Follow the prescribed frequency (daily/weekly/monthly depending on strength and deficiency status).
Nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, headache, weakness
Use with caution in hypercalcaemia, hypervitaminosis D, kidney stones, severe renal impairment, or sarcoidosis/granulomatous diseases. Excess intake can cause vitamin D toxicity and high calcium (thirst, frequent urination, confusion, arrhythmias). If you have kidney disease or are taking calcium supplements, use only under medical supervision; periodic calcium and vitamin D monitoring may be needed.
Thiazide diuretics (risk of hypercalcaemia), digoxin/cardiac glycosides (arrhythmia risk with high calcium), anticonvulsants like phenytoin/phenobarbital (reduced vitamin D effect), rifampicin (reduced effect), corticosteroids (reduced absorption/effect), cholestyramine/orlistat (reduced absorption), magnesium-containing antacids (hypermagnesemia risk in renal impairment)
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from light and moisture. Keep in original pack and out of reach of children.
