Amylmetacresol (0.6mg) + Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide (5mg)
Symptomatic relief of cough and throat irritation; soothing sore throat and hoarseness associated with common cold/upper respiratory tract irritation.
Medicated lozenges typically soothe the irritated throat by increasing saliva and forming a protective coating, which helps reduce the urge to cough. Depending on the active ingredients, they may also provide mild local anesthetic and/or antiseptic action in the throat.
Dissolve one lozenge slowly in the mouth; do not chew or swallow whole. Repeat as needed as per pack directions/doctor advice. Not recommended for young children due to choking risk; follow age-specific guidance on the label.
Mouth/throat irritation, nausea, stomach upset, altered taste, dry mouth, allergic reactions (rash/itching)
Do not exceed the recommended number of lozenges. Use with caution in diabetes (may contain sugar). Stop use and seek medical advice if symptoms persist >3–5 days, worsen, or are accompanied by high fever, breathing difficulty, wheezing, or blood in sputum. Avoid in case of known allergy to any ingredients. Keep out of reach of children; choking hazard in small children.
No major interactions expected with typical cough lozenges when used as directed; if the lozenge contains a local anesthetic/antiseptic, avoid concurrent use of similar throat anesthetic products unless advised by a doctor.
Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep the pack tightly closed and do not use if the lozenges are damaged or discolored.
Strepsils Orange Lozenges, Vicks Cough Drops Orange, Brufen/Betadine Gargle alternatives are not direct substitutes, Koflet Lozenges, Himalaya Koflet-H Lozenges
