Udiwok 300 Tablet is a prescription medicine containing Ursodeoxycholic Acid (300mg). It is used for dissolution of cholesterol gallstones (in selected patients), treatment of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), primary biliary cirrhosis and cholestatic liver diseases where UDCA is indicated (as prescribed). It belongs to the group of medicines called Bile acid (Ursodeoxycholic acid).
Take by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually with food; swallow whole with water. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Udiwok 300 Tablet are diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain and indigestion. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Udiwok 300 Tablet works.
Most side effects of Udiwok are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Take by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually with food; swallow whole with water. Dose and duration depend on indication (e.g., gallstones or PBC); take at the same time daily and do not stop without medical advice.
Ursodeoxycholic acid is a hydrophilic bile acid that reduces cholesterol saturation in bile by decreasing hepatic cholesterol secretion and absorption. It improves bile flow and protects liver cells from toxic bile acids, helping in cholestatic liver conditions and gradual dissolution of cholesterol gallstones.
Use only under medical supervision. Not effective for calcified/pigment gallstones or non-functioning gallbladder; evaluation and imaging may be needed. Use with caution in biliary obstruction, acute gallbladder inflammation, pancreatitis, or severe liver disease; liver function tests may be monitored. Seek medical help for severe abdominal pain, persistent diarrhoea, jaundice worsening, or allergic reactions.
If you miss a dose of Udiwok 300 Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.
An overdose of this medicine may cause loose motions and stomach upset. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
