Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as ear, nose & throat infections (tonsillitis, otitis media, sinusitis), lower respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and dental infections as prescribed by a doctor.
How It Works
Amoxicillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic. It kills bacteria by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to rupture and death of susceptible bacteria. It does not work for viral infections such as common cold or flu.
Directions for Use
Oral suspension: Shake well before each dose. Measure using a calibrated spoon/cup. Can be taken with or without food (take with food if it upsets the stomach). Dose and duration depend on age/weight and infection; complete the full prescribed course. Reconstitute as per label instructions if supplied as dry syrup.
Do not use if allergic to amoxicillin, penicillins, or cephalosporins (risk of severe hypersensitivity). Use with caution in infectious mononucleosis (higher risk of rash), kidney impairment (may need dose adjustment), and history of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea/colitis. Seek urgent care for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, severe rash, or persistent/watery/bloody diarrhoea. Use only for bacterial infections and do not stop early unless advised.
Store below 25°C, protected from light and moisture. If supplied as reconstituted suspension, store as per label (often refrigerated 2–8°C) and use within the stated period; do not freeze. Keep bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children.
