Fever is the body's natural response to infection, signaling that the immune system is actively fighting pathogens. While mild fevers often resolve on their own, medicines can help manage discomfort and reduce temperature when it rises too high.

Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is the gold standard for fever reduction and mild-to-moderate pain relief. It is safe for most age groups when used at recommended doses. Ibuprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), is effective for fever with inflammation, such as sore throat or ear infections.

For more intense pain, combination tablets containing paracetamol with caffeine or with an NSAID are available. Diclofenac is commonly prescribed for musculoskeletal pain, dental pain, and post-operative discomfort.

Always stay hydrated during fever. Use a thermometer to monitor temperature. Adults should seek medical attention if fever exceeds 103°F (39.4°C) or persists beyond 3 days.
