Acitretin 25 mg (soft gelatin capsule)
Treatment of severe psoriasis (including erythrodermic or pustular psoriasis) and other severe disorders of keratinisation when unresponsive to other therapies.
Acitretin is an oral retinoid that normalizes epidermal cell growth and differentiation. It reduces excessive keratinocyte proliferation and inflammation, improving scaling, thickening and plaque formation.
Take by mouth as prescribed, usually once daily with the main meal (fat-containing food improves absorption). Swallow capsule whole; do not crush or chew. Dose and duration are individualized; follow dermatologist’s advice and attend regular monitoring.

A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Acrotac 25MG Cap. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Highly teratogenic: contraindicated in pregnancy. Effective contraception is required for women of childbearing potential during treatment and for at least 3 years after stopping; regular pregnancy tests as advised. Do not donate blood during treatment and for 3 years after stopping. Avoid alcohol during treatment and for 2 months after stopping (can increase formation of etretinate and prolong teratogenic risk). Monitor liver function tests and lipid profile; use caution in liver disease, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, obesity. May cause mood changes, pseudotumor cerebri (severe headache/visual changes) and decreased night vision—avoid driving if affected. Avoid excessive sun/UV exposure.
