Allegra M 120/10 Tablet contains Montelukast (10mg) + Fexofenadine (120mg). It belongs to the H1 antihistamine + Leukotriene receptor antagonist class of medicines.

How Allegra M 120/10 Tablet works

Fexofenadine is a second-generation H1 antihistamine that blocks histamine-mediated allergic symptoms like sneezing, itching and watery eyes with minimal sedation. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that blocks cysteinyl leukotrienes, reducing nasal congestion and inflammation.

How to take Allegra M 120/10 Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily; may be taken with or without food. Swallow whole with water. Avoid taking with fruit juices (apple/orange/grapefruit) as they can reduce fexofenadine absorption; keep a gap of a few hours from antacids containing aluminium/magnesium.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Allegra M 120/10 as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Allegra M 120/10 than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Allegra M 120/10 Tablet

Most side effects of Allegra M 120/10 are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Schedule H medicine—use on doctor’s advice. Use with caution in kidney disease (fexofenadine exposure may increase) and in elderly. Avoid driving/operating machinery if you feel dizzy or sleepy. Montelukast has been associated with neuropsychiatric events (e.g., agitation, anxiety, sleep disturbances, depression, suicidal thoughts); stop and seek medical help if mood/behaviour changes occur. Not for acute asthma attack relief. Inform doctor about all medicines and allergies.

Interactions with other medicines

Antacids containing aluminium or magnesium (reduce fexofenadine absorption), fruit juices (reduce fexofenadine absorption), erythromycin/ketoconazole (may increase fexofenadine levels), rifampicin and enzyme inducers (may reduce montelukast levels), other sedatives/alcohol (may increase dizziness/somnolence)
