Amoxycillin (600mg/5ml) + Clavulanic Acid (42.9mg/5ml)
Augpen Es Suspension is used for treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as acute otitis media, acute bacterial sinusitis, tonsillitis/pharyngitis, community-acquired pneumonia/bronchitis, skin and soft tissue infections, and urinary tract infections.
Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated August 2026
Augpen Es Suspension contains Amoxycillin (600mg/5ml) + Clavulanic Acid (42.9mg/5ml). It belongs to the Penicillin (aminopenicillin) antibiotic + beta-lactamase inhibitor class of medicines.
Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects amoxicillin from enzymatic breakdown, extending its antibacterial spectrum.
Oral suspension: Shake well before each dose. Use a measuring cup/syringe. Usually given with food to reduce stomach upset. Reconstitute with boiled and cooled water up to the mark as per label and complete the full prescribed course; dose and duration as advised by the doctor (commonly weight-based in children).
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Augpen ES Oral Suspension, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Augpen Es than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Augpen Es are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Prescription-only antibiotic. Do not use in patients with allergy to penicillins/cephalosporins or history of severe hypersensitivity. Use with caution in hepatic impairment; discontinue and seek care if jaundice, severe rash, or persistent diarrhoea occurs (risk of C. difficile diarrhoea). Dose adjustment may be needed in renal impairment. Not for viral infections; inappropriate use can cause resistance.
Warfarin/other anticoagulants (increased INR), methotrexate (increased toxicity), allopurinol (increased rash risk), probenecid (increases amoxicillin levels), mycophenolate mofetil (reduced exposure)
Store dry powder at room temperature away from moisture and light. After reconstitution, store in a refrigerator (2–8°C), do not freeze, and use within the period stated on the label (commonly 7–10 days). Keep tightly closed.
Take Augpen ES Oral Suspension, preferably with food, to avoid stomach upset. Stick to simple meals, avoid fatty or spicy food, and drink plenty of water while taking this medicine. Diarrhea may occur as a side effect. Taking probiotics along with this medicine may help. Seek medical advice if diarrhea becomes severe or persistent, or if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps. Stop taking Augpen ES Oral Suspension and seek urgent medical attention if you develop a rash, itching, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing. Do not use leftover medicine to treat any future infection. Always consult your doctor before taking any antibiotic. Inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease before taking Augpen ES Oral Suspension. Complete the full course of treatment and do not stop it early, even if you start feeling better.
